Norhage Industri completed a full renovation of an aging 40-year-old glass greenhouse in Sweden. The old structure was dismantled down to the foundation and replaced with a modern steel frame system tailored to fit the original base. We installed durable polycarbonate glazing for improved insulation and reduced maintenance, and added new gutters for long-lasting protection. The result is a modernized and highly functional greenhouse, custom-built to meet today’s standards.
Customer feedback (translated from swedish language)
With an increasing interest over the years in gardening and growing vegetables as a way to stay physically active after retirement, we decided to move to the countryside. We were fortunate to find our dream home in the form of a larger property located just outside Stockholm. On the property, there was an older greenhouse (wood/metal/glass), 26 meters long and 4 meters wide, which was also connected to a smaller house. In many ways, it was a charming greenhouse.
However, it turned out to be very labor-intensive to maintain. For several seasons, we scraped and painted the wooden frame with linseed oil. We regularly replaced the small glass panes, which unfortunately often cracked due to seasonal changes in temperature and humidity.
We started to wonder whether it would be possible to renovate and preserve the greenhouse in a reasonable way. Maintaining and replacing rotten parts of the wooden structure would require a lot of work without necessarily guaranteeing a good outcome.
After quite a bit of searching online, we got in touch with Gedas Riepsas, a contact person at Tehi Norhage – a manufacturer and renovator of greenhouses. After describing the greenhouse with a simple sketch, Gedas traveled here and assessed the renovation potential.
The proposal was to use the MAKAN model (a Tehi Norhage type) as the greenhouse frame with polycarbonate glazing. The Makan model would be custom-made to fit our old cast concrete foundation. Gedas took all the necessary measurements and returned to the office.
After a few days, we received a quote that we gladly accepted. The offer included dismantling the old greenhouse and constructing the new one. The parts were delivered to us, and after a few more days, three builders arrived and completed all the work in less than a week.
My wife and I were very impressed by the craftsmanship we witnessed during the process. On several occasions, they improvised to achieve the best results. Some of the solutions felt almost magical.
We now have a greenhouse that we are incredibly happy with and extremely satisfied. It far exceeded our expectations.
In many situations, people are asked to review services and products. In this case, it is a pure joy to wholeheartedly recommend Norhage’s services and products. In addition, the workers we had the pleasure to meet were very friendly – Modestus, an incredibly skilled builder, and Pranas and Linas, very talented craftsmen.
